Every product carries technical debt. The teams that stay fast are not the ones with zero debt, they are the ones who know where it is and pay it down deliberately.
We reserve a fixed share of every sprint for debt work, tied to the features on the roadmap. Refactoring the billing module the week before you extend it is cheap. Refactoring it the week after an incident is not.
Make debt visible. A short, honest register reviewed monthly beats a backlog nobody reads.
